Creating the YOUTH BUILD Methodology: Partners Begin Designing All Project Outputs

After a successful kick-off meeting in Estonia, the YOUTH BUILD project has moved into a crucial phase: designing the full methodology for all project outputs. Partners are now working together to plan what will be created, how it will be used, and how young people and youth workers will be included at every step.

This stage is about careful thinking, co-design, and ensuring that everything we produce is meaningful, practical, and rooted in real needs.

What Outputs Are We Designing a Methodology For?

Partners are planning the methodology for all major project results:

  1. Resilience Assessment Compass – tool to assess resilience levels, challenges, and strengths.

  2. Strengths-Based Coaching Cards – interactive cards helping youth recognize their abilities and reflect on solutions.

  3. Resilience Champions Digital Platform –For identifying and nurturing resilience champions among vulnerable youth.

  4. Training & Piloting – methodology for training youth workers and testing project materials in real-life contexts with 30 youth workers and volunteers.

What Does “Methodology” Mean in This Stage?

Partners are now working on:

  • Defining the purpose of each tool: Who will use it? In what situations? How often?

  • Creating a common structure and ethical guidelines to ensure safety, confidentiality, and inclusiveness when working with young people.

  • Planning focus groups and needs assessments to hear directly from youth and youth workers before developing the tools.

  • Designing step-by-step processes for how each tool will be developed, tested, and improved.

  • Agreement on language, format, and style to keep all outputs youth-friendly and accessible to different cultures and abilities.

Focus Groups as a Core Part of the Method

To ensure the tools are not theoretical but based on real experiences, partners are preparing focus groups in every country. These focus groups will:

  • Gather insights from vulnerable young people, youth workers, psychologists, and educators

  • Test concepts like resilience, strengths, emotional needs, and peer support

  • Help shape the first draft of all outputs.

  • Ensure the methodology reflects different social and cultural realities
